OPPO’s flagship smartphone has officially returned to Indonesia, featuring the OPPO Find X8 Pro. This marks a significant comeback for the brand’s non-folding flagship series.
After a lengthy absence, OPPO has revived its esteemed Find X series. Our previous review was the OPPO Find X5 Pro in 2022, and now the latest iteration has arrived.
The OPPO Find X8 Series comes in two variants: the standard OPPO Find X8 and the premium OPPO Find X8 Pro, catering to diverse user preferences.
The differences between the two models are significant, mainly in terms of price and design. If you’re looking for a compact iPhone-like design, the standard Find X8 is the way to go. Its frame design bears a resemblance to iPhones.

However, if you need a larger screen and cutting-edge technology, the Find X8 Pro is the better choice. Simple, right?
For now, let’s focus on reviewing the Find X8 Pro. We’ll cover the non-Pro version separately later.
Let’s start with the unboxing The OPPO Find X8 Pro package includes:
- Device with pre-installed screen protector
- 80W SUPERVOOC charger
- USB-C cable
- Protective case
- SIM tray ejector
- Documentation package
We’ll dive into the details next.
The OPPO Find X8 Pro’s design builds upon the legacy of its predecessors, specifically the Find X6 Pro and X7 Ultra, featuring a central camera module. The key difference lies in the single-tone back cover, replacing the dual-tone design for a sleeker , more elegant look.
There are two reasons why we appreciate this design:
- The camera module naturally serves as a resting place for your index finger.
- The phone remains stable when placed on a surface, facilitating seamless operation.
The OPPO Find X8 Pro’s back cover is made of glass, while its frame is metal, giving it a luxurious look. It comes in two colors: Space Black and Pearl White, like the unit we’re reviewing. The back cover features a pearl -inspired motif, giving it a luxurious feel. Each camera is distinctly visible on the Pearl White variant, while on the Space Black, the camera module appears seamless. The finishing on both variants is smooth, leaving no fingerprints.
- Dimensions: 162.27 × 76.67 × 8.24mm
- Weight: 215g
For this non-folding flagship, we think it’s not too heavy, since competitors are usually thicker (over 8.5mm) and heavier (over 220g).
It’s IP68 and IP69 rated, meaning it’s water-resistant and withstands high water pressure. Think car wash-level water jets! Still, we don’t recommend taking it swimming or to the beach. Why? Because these certifications are just precautions, and testing uses clean water, not seawater.
smartphone from various angles
On the right side, there’s a Quick Button to control the camera’s zoom level and also functions as a shutter release. Just a heads up, it only works in horizontal mode, not vertical. Next to it are the power button, volume up, and volume down.
On top, you’ll find two microphone holes and an IR Blaster.
The left side features an Alert Slider to switch notifications to Ring, Vibrate, or Silent. This is super handy, especially during meetings when you forget to silence your phone!
At the bottom, there’s a SIM tray with DUAL SIM support, but no MicroSD slot. This smartphone also supports eSIM.
Next to the SIM slot, you’ll find a microphone, USB type-C 3.1 Gen 1, and a bottom stereo speaker grill. The speakers are stereo, with the other one located in the earpiece.
As for the sound quality, we’ d say it’s impressive—loud, detailed, and perfect for gaming or streaming.
From the front side:
- It features a 6.78″ AMOLED Quad-Curved Display with a resolution of 2780 x 1264 pixels.
- The peak brightness is claimed to be 4500 nits, but typically, such high numbers only apply in specific scenarios.
When we tested it for general use cases, the maximum brightness indoors was around 800 nits. For outdoor simulation, it reached up to 1180 nits (almost 1200 nits). That’s already super bright for outdoor use, so there’s no issue at all.
As for the display colors, there are three modes:
- Natural Mode
- Pro Mode
- Vivid Mode
As usual, the default is Natural Mode, which is perfect for content editing. Why? Because the gamut coverage and volume are calibrated to 100% sRGB. However, we noticed something odd—when switching to Pro Mode, the Color Gamut Coverage and Volume remain the same at 100% sRGB. So, there’s no real difference between Natural and Pro Modes.
If you’re looking for a better experience for watching movies or gaming, you can switch to Vivid Mode, which is tuned for 100% DCI-P3.
As for the screen’s refresh rate, it supports up to 120 Hz and is adaptive from 1-120 Hz. For example, when you’re on the home screen and there’s no activity, it can drop to as low as 1 Hz.
We don’t have info yet on the touch sampling rate, but one thing’s for sure—the screen is highly responsive, as expected from a flagship smartphone.
It also comes with an Always-On Display feature, which can be set to stay on permanently. On the screen itself, there’s an In-Display Fingerprint Scanner using optical technology, making the unlock process quick and responsive.
Now, let’s talk about the bezels—they’re incredibly thin at just 1.9mm and perfectly symmetrical on all sides, likely thanks to the curved edges.
Moving to the top of the screen, there’s an earpiece for calls and a 32 MP selfie camera with the following specs:
- Sony IMX615
- 21mm equivalent, offering a wide enough field of view for selfies
- f/2.4 aperture
- Fixed Focus
- Video recording up to 4K 60 FPS
Now, moving to the back, we have the main camera module, which OPPO calls the Hasselblad Master Camera System.
The cameras include:
- Ultra-Wide Camera: 50MP, 13mm, ISOCELL JN5 sensor, f/2.0, with Auto Focus.
- Main/Wide Camera: 50MP, 23mm, LYT-808 sensor, almost a 1″ sensor (1/1.4” to be exact), f/1.6, equipped with OIS.
- Periscope Camera (1): 50MP, 73mm, LYT-600 sensor, f/2.6, also equipped with OIS.
- Periscope Camera (2): 50MP, 135mm, SONY IMX858 sensor, f/4.3, with OIS as well.
In our opinion, this is what you’d call a smartphone with monster cameras. The specs are no joke—absolutely outstanding across the board. The Dual Periscope Telephoto setup is a rare feature these days, making it even more impressive.
Now, let’s talk about video recording. All the cameras can shoot in 4K at 60 FPS, which is a hallmark of flagship smartphones. Some might wonder, “Why not 8K?” Well, while 8K is undoubtedly cool, it’s not yet at the level of being a must-have for a flagship. As long as all cameras deliver consistent 4K at 60 FPS, we’d say that’s more than enough.
As for extra camera features, there are tons—like Slow Motion, Dual-View Video, Long Exposure, and more. You can explore all the options in the menu yourself!
Now let’s dive into the internal specs:
- SoC: Dimensity 9400, currently MediaTek’s fastest SoC at the time of this review.
- RAM: 16 GB LPDDR5X.
- Storage: 512 GB with UFS 4.0 (only one variant available).
- Battery: 5910 mAh. By late 2024 to 2025, we’ll likely see more flagship smartphones with slim designs but large battery capacities. OPPO achieves this with its Silicon-Carbon Battery technology, allowing for significantly increased capacity.
Charging:
- Wired charging supports 80W SUPERVOOC. For the Power Delivery (PD) protocol, it runs around 55W, which is already fast.
- Wireless charging supports 50W AIRVOOC. To achieve maximum speed, whether wired or wireless, you’ll need OPPO’s proprietary charger. OPPO has even launched its wireless charger in Indonesia.
- Reverse wireless charging supports 10W, making it convenient for charging TWS or smartwatches.
- Unfortunately, there’s no Bypass Charging feature, which would’ve been great for gaming.
Sensors: As expected for a flagship, all essential sensors are included.
Security Features:
- In-Display Fingerprint Scanner.
- Face Unlock (pretty standard).
Connectivity:
- 5G support.
- eSIM support.
- Wi-Fi 7 and Wi-Fi Sharing.
- Bluetooth 5.4 with support for SBC, AAC, LDAC, LHDC, and AptX codecs.
- USB OTG.
- NFC.
- Display out via USB-C for mirroring to an external display or monitor.
These features are typically reserved for high-end flagships.
One standout feature OPPO highlights is Share with iPhone, making this smartphone an excellent companion for iPhone users.
To use the Share with iPhone feature, you’ll need to install the O+ Connect app from the App Store on your iPhone. Once set up, transferring files between this smartphone and an iPhone becomes incredibly fast, working similarly to AirDrop or Quick Share.
The smartphone runs on ColorOS 15, based on Android 15. OPPO promises 4 Android updates and 5 years of security updates, which is great for longevity.
What about annoying ads? As of this review, there are no intrusive ads. If there are any, they’re usually app suggestions from the App Market via notifications, which can be turned off. As for bloatware, it’s still present, but most of it can be uninstalled, so it’s not a big issue.
OS Features:
OPPO has packed some exciting AI features into the ColorOS Gallery:
- AI Clarity Enhancer: Enhances low-resolution photos, turning them into HD quality.
- AI Unblur: Sharpens slightly blurry photos, making them clearer (but not for heavily blurred images).
- AI Reflection Remover: Removes reflections when taking photos in front of mirrors without affecting the main object.
- AI Reimage: A feature that enhances and restores images.
- AI Toolbox: A productivity-focused suite accessible via the sidebar, including:
- AI Summary: Summarizes text from notes or articles while browsing.
- AI Speak: Converts text to voice.
- AI Writer: Assists in drafting notes, emails, or articles by generating text based on a topic.
These AI features support multiple languages like English and Chinese. However, unfortunately, Indonesian isn’t supported yet.
OPPO has also collaborated with Google to introduce unique features like Gemini and Circle to Search, which add to the overall experience.
